Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo posted a heartfelt message to his former teammate Marcelo, who left Madrid after 16 years. Brazilian full-back Marcelo said goodbye to Real Madrid on Monday, with Marcelo’s former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo paying tribute in an emotional message on social media. Since Marcelo was confirmed to leave Madrid this summer, his former teammates and skipper have paid him an array of tributes. Cristiano Ronaldo has sent his former teammate at Real Madrid, Marcelo, an emotional goodbye message, with Marcelo leaving the Spanish giants after 16 seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Cristiano Ronaldo posted an emotional message on his social media handle after his close friend and former Real Madrid teammate Marcelo Real Madrid announced parting ways with the Spanish membership. Real Madrid winger Marcelo played with Cristiano Ronaldo during their spell at the Bernabeu; the pair have formed a close friendship, with the Brazilian now paying tribute to the five-time Ballon dOr winner who has parted ways. Ronaldo and Marcelo shared nine glorious years at the Bernabeu, during which the Portuguese became the all-time leading scorer for Madrid while winning numerous trophies.

In some of Madrid’s most successful years, the duo were clinical on the left-hand side, with Cristiano Ronaldo writing a poignant message to Marcelo. During Madrid’s glory years, when Madrid won four Champions Leagues in five years, Brazilian wing-back Marcelo was a crucial part of the team since his presence down the left side allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to forget his defensive duties and concentrate exclusively on attacking. No one has scored more goals for Real Madrid than the Portuguese forward, playing next to his pal Marcelo, who won four Champions League titles, three Club World Cups, and two UEFA Super Cups, in addition to two LaLiga titles, two Copas del Reys, and two Spanish Super Cups. Daily Mail reports that Legendary Raul was crying as Marcelo paid tribute to the legendary striker, with the left-back revealed as being his model at the club.

His former teammate Marcelo was extremely emotional throughout his speech, expressing gratitude for teammates, coaches and other staff members that supported him throughout his career. During his emotional goodbye Monday, Marcelo, the former Fluminense player, quickly recognised Marcelo’s teammates and fans as a whole. Tears were bound to flow as proceedings continued at Madrid. Those members of Carlo Ancelotti’s ranks who missed out on last week’s international fixtures were sure to drop in to say goodbye to former clubmate Marcelo, who has been at Real Madrid for some time.
